Luca himself is the first one to begin the string of mishaps by conjuring up all the courage he can muster and covering his teacher Martinelli (Giorgio Faletti), the vilest Literature teacher of all times, with an incredible collection of insults and accusations. Just ten seconds later he discovers that Martinelli will be standing on the examination board! To top it all off, just a few hours later Luca falls in love with Claudia (Cristiana Capotondi), a lively girl he met at a party. Just ten seconds later he discovers that she’s engaged to a guy whose muscles weigh twenty kilos more than his own! But Luca doesn’t give up and begins to spasmodically look for his loved-one. All he knows about her is her name, but he is completely unaware of the most important thing regarding her....that she is the loathed Professor Martinelli’s daughter! In the following days his friends are of no help to Luca in trying to gain Martinelli’s esteem – on the contrary, all they do is get him into trouble. He begins to associate with his teacher, initially with the pretence of private lessons and then also as...friends....well, let’s say nearly friends. The truth is that Luca’s insults have profoundly shaken the bastard.....the professor. Their encounters are simply small squabbles while awaiting the ultimate battle on the day of the finals. Claudia is also going through a lot on those last days before her exams. Two major events rain down on her: her best friend Chicca (Valentina Idini) runs away from home after not being admitted to the exams and her beloved grandmother (Valeria Fabrizi) suddendly dies. Everything culminates with the night before finals. The night is long....and not one of our characters will be the same the next morning.
