THE NEW MONSTERS TODAY is to be considered the third chapter of the “trilogy” of the episode-films THE MONSTERS (I MOSTRI) directed by Dino Risi in 1963 and THE NEW MONSTERS (1977) directed by Dino Risi, Mario Monicelli and Ettore Scola, the masters of comedy. Once again, all the contemporary vices and fears are ironically described, because time pass by but all our defects are always the same, and in this picture they are narrated in funny, bitter, grotesque episodes: cynicism, greed, indifference, false respectability, vanity and many other ironic defects. The 16 episodes, of different structure and duration, revolve around central character, mainly played by the 3 main actors, that will act either together and alternately…Some episodes are really short and strong with structure and duration of a sketch, others put forward the development of a more elaborate story.
