THE OTHER WOMAN a film by Vincent Dawn
Francesca is a young woman of the Roman upper middle class. She is being married since some years with Massimo, a young journalist who writes cinematographic reviews. Obviously, some of their friends are cinema personalities and among them stands out Michele, a well-known producer. He invites them to a Christmas party that will be held at his palace in Venice. During the party he wrongly shows to his guests some images of a porn film instead of his video trip. Those images upset Francesca beyond any expectations, realizing that her union with Massimo is perfect apart from sex, which is poor enough to undermine their union. Once she came back to Rome and she goes shopping with her friends, Topazia and Claudia, she learns about Valeria, a mutual friend, who has taken part in some porn film shootings, perhaps to escape monotony. Thanks to these events and to her problems with Massimo, Francesca starts thinking that she could be wrong and sex, even the extreme-sex, might not be repugnant as she thinks. She buys a porn videocassette in a Sexy Shop and when Massimo is out, she watches the erotic show of a porn star called Bingo, shocked at first but then feeling attraction. As she learns about the address of a Porn Film Production on the back of the videocassette, she contacts the producer and after having convinced him, she is ready to start her voyage inside the Hard Movie World. We will witness Francesca's metamorphosis, both as a woman and as a lover of her husband, through real experiences and dreams. On the umpteenth set of a porn film she will meet Bingo, the man who upset her. Between them begins a natural relation that goes further than a porn film and Bingo will end up by confessing to be in love with her. One day, something unexpected happens: Michele comes on the set, finding out Francesca's secret life. She feels lost but Michele, refusing her body generously offered to him, reassures her saying that he won't tell nothing to Massimo. When Francesca feels that her voyage has come to an end, she tells the producer that she is leaving and will never come back but she will have to face Bingo as he follows her at home. We will find again Francesca and Massimo walking on the streets of Venice in the same situation we saw them at the beginning of the film, but their relation has changed, also their intimacy which is now more satisfying. That evening, they go at Michele's party where he introduces them his friend Peter, who looks very much like Bingo. The film ends with a quick exchange of glances and smiles between Francesca and Bingo, leaving us with the dubt that it was only a Francesca's dream…. But, was it just a dream?…
